Healthy Smoothie Recipes for adults & kids

*read about how I ate my way to shedding inches, fat, and pounds HERE

Smoothies have become an everyday meal at our house, not just for me but for the girls too.  Not very many people LOVE their protein smoothies but I can honestly say that I do!  I have concocted a yummy recipe with a great amount of all the things that I need to help me lose weight and build muscle.

Nutrition Facts: (based on the brands used below)
270 calories, 29g carbs, 31g protein, 2g fat

Ingredients:
1/2 Kroger vanilla nonfat greek yogurt
1/2 C Kirkland frozen strawberries (or 3 because they are big)
2T Kroger old fashioned oats
3/4 scoop Muscle Milk protein powder (chocolate or vanilla) – both are good, here I used chocolate
1/4 banana
1/2 C water
5 ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in blender with the frozen things first to help blend better.  Now, most people have BlendTecs, I have a Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender and this has been the best $15 bucks (yes, I said 15) that I have ever spent!  It works like a charm.  My smoothies are fluffy and smooth and most of the time I am only making enough for one or two people so it works great!  The cool thing about this is that the lid opens up so that you can just take the cup off of the base and take it with you wherever you go!  I get mine HERE.

Every time I drink my protein smoothie the girls want me to share it with them.  I say, “No Way”!  for one, I don’t like to share my food because food is too special to me, secondly, it has way too much protein for their little bodies.  So for this reason, I made up my own little “protein smoothie” for the kiddos.  My little Livi doesn’t drink much milk, so this is a great way that I can add a little to her smoothie and I know she is getting some Vitamin D and Calcium.  Here it is:
**Serves two child-sized glasses**

Ingredients:
1/2 C Kroger Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1/2 C Kirkland frozen strawberries (or 3 because they’re big)
2 T Kroger old fashioned oats
1 packet Nestle Breakfast Essential (chocolate)
5 ice cubes
1/2 C milk
1/2 banana if desired

Just blend together!

Tropical Smoothie
This recipe is so delicious, my hubby compares it to Jamba Juice!  My kids love this recipe too and its dark enough that I can add spinach to it and they don’t even notice!  This recipe makes 1 8oz glass full, and so if I’m making it for the kids, it makes 2 small glasses full.

Nutrition:
100 calories, 18g carbs, 0g protein, 0g fat
**because this has no protein, I pair this smoothies with deli meat and a few whole wheat crackers to make it a meal**

Ingredients:
1 orange
1/2 Kirkland frozen strawberries (or 3 because they are big)
1 squirt Torani coconut extract (or 1T)
1 on the go drink packet raspberry ice Crystal Light powder
1/2 cap full of vanilla extract
1/3 C water
5 ice cubes
 Spinach if desired

Mix together and enjoy a taste of paradise!

NOTE:  all of these smoothies are great for freezing in popsicle forms for the summer

Hey, I'm Kami!

Welcome to the blog

Wife to my Jr. High sweetheart, mother to three daughters. I have always loved being social and staying connected with other people who have similar interests to me. I started a blog back in 2010 and have been in the social networking scene since then. I love meeting new people and helping them feel confident, and see their own beauty.
